Video: Domino’s robber hit with yogurt shop charges

A South Coventry man has been charged in connection with a one-man, three-county crime spree which involved alleged armed holdups at an Upper Providence yogurt shop and a Radnor pizza shop.

Adam Robert David, 18, who most recently resided along Coventryville Road and is formerly of Lower Pottsgrove, faces charges of robbery, burglary, possessing an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering other persons and theft in connection with alleged incidents that occurred between July 22 and Aug. 3 in Montgomery, Chester and Delaware counties.

David, who was apprehended by authorities Thursday at the Coventry Mall, was expected to be arraigned later today before District Court Judge Walter F. Gadzicki Jr. in Limerick in connection with all the alleged crimes and the cases will be handled by Montgomery County prosecutors.

With the charges, authorities alleged David stole an Audi TT on July 22 from outside a Prizer Road home in North Coventry and used the Audi as a getaway car during a July 30 armed robbery at the Kiwi Yogurt store located in the Providence Town Center in Upper Providence.

“It was quite brazen and unusual because the perpetrator appeared to be carrying a machine gun-type weapon,” alleged District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, referring to surveillance videotape that recorded the holdup. “Certainly that was very frightening to many people and all of us were quite concerned that someone was carrying a weapon like that around the community.”

While police were investigating the yogurt shop robbery, David allegedly used a handgun to rob the Domino’s Pizza shop on West Lancaster Avenue in Radnor Township, Delaware County on Aug. 3, according to the arrest affidavit.

The investigation determined that the guns used in the robberies were actually airsoft or BB-type guns.

“But they looked so much like real firearms that the penalties in place for someone who uses these guns are the same as if they were using real firearms. Both of these weapons were very frightening to the observers,” Ferman alleged.
