VALLEY FORGE, PA – (June 15, 2011) – Washington Memorial National Carillon at Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge will present the 2011 Frank P. Law Summer Carillon Concert Series. In July the series features international performers, starting on July 6 with Geert D’hollander, City Carillonneur of Antwerp, Lier Ghent en St-Niklaas, Belgium. Amy Johansen from The University of Sydney, Australia follows on July 13 and Stefano Colletti from Hôtel de Ville (City Hall), Douai, France, on July 20. We welcome back Toru Takao from Himeji, Japan on July 27. In August, American carillonneurs perform, beginning with Chapel Carillonneur Doug Gefvert on August 3. On August 10 we welcome Carol Jickling Lens from the University of Denver for her first concert in Valley Forge. Another returning favorite, Lee Cobb, performs on August 17. Formerly of the Historic Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales, Florida, Lee is now Carillonneur of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Clearwater, Florida. The ever popular Irish Thunder Pipes Drums will perform on August 24 (Music of the British Isles), and we conclude the 2011 series with Jim Fackenthal, Assistant Carillonneur of the University of Chicago (August 31).

As always, all concerts are free and open to the public. These are hour-long outdoor concerts, so bring a blanket, lawn chair, snacks or dinner.
