Man dead, woman injured in West Goshen domestic

WEST GOSHEN – Police are investigating after a man was found dead and a woman injured inside a home here early Monday morning.

West Goshen Police Capt. Joe Gleason said a preliminary investigation indicated both victims suffered gunshot wounds during what was likely a domestic dispute about 5:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Steward Lane.

Police are withholding the victims’ identities until officers have notified family.

The couple’s two children were inside the home at the time of the incident, but were uninjured, Gleason said.

Police responded to the home after the couple’s 9-year-old child called 911, Gleason said.

Initially, police were dispatched to the home for a burglary in progress. While officers were en route police learned a female adult victim had suffered a head injury and a male adult victim was lying on the kitchen floor.

“The child heard some commotion and went to investigate,” Gleason said. “Then he heard a weapon discharge and he observed a female in the residence bleeding from the head.”

Police safely removed the children from the home. The female adult victim was able to exit the home on her own. She was taken to Paoli Hospital for a head wound and was set to undergo surgery Monday afternoon, Gleason said.

Police recovered a firearm from the home and are investigating to determine who fired the weapon.

Both children are in the custody of family friends, Gleason said.
